Initial hello! (30 min)
This is a “getting to know you” chat for both parties. You’ll learn more about Observe and the people behind it. We’ll learn more about your past experiences and career goals.
Meet the hiring manager (30 min)
If you didn’t get the chance in your initial chat, you’ll connect with our Head of Product Design to go deeper on the role and team you’d be joining.
Portfolio Presentation (1 hr)
You’ll walk through 1-2 projects that demonstrate your skills, design process, your role specifically, who was involved, the outcomes, and challenges. Ideally these projects are relevant to the type of work happening at Observe. Please allow for questions throughout. We recommend planning for 10 mins of questions and answers at the end. You will be joined by 3-4 Observe employees, typically spanning design, engineering, and/or product.
The role you’re interviewing for will require you to work from end-to-end on projects. With that said, be sure your projects demonstrate your skills as they relate to all phases of the product development process. For example, we’d love to see research deliverables as well as high-fidelity interfaces you delivered to your team.
Critique Exercise (30 min)
We'll ask you to critique Google Maps, putting yourself in the shoes of a user. While critiquing, we'll ask you to consider the overall objective of the business/product and how visual aesthetics, brand, and UX/interaction design impact a user's experience and goals. Be prepared to share your screen.
